313 - Examination

The largest piece for my Advanced Drawing class a few semesters back. This was 4 pieces of roughly 22" X 30" paper... so it is rather large!!

This assignment was rather fun. We had to use a frottage technique of rubbing our pencils over the paper that was on top of a texture, in order to get the desired pattern. So, there are "controlled" rubbings all around this image. The theme was supposed to be something alien, something foreign, something that has not been invented yet. I came up with an idea that was inspired by stuff straight out of the Matrix universe. Something entirely mechanical, yet had life to it, and felt/looked rather sinister. I would NOT want to be in that chair being examined by this thing.
